Housing

A block of rooms at Carter Caves Park is being held for the school until June 5.  Most have two double beds, but there are a very few with one queen bed or with one king bed.  In addition, there are some campsites.  MAKE YOUR ROOM RESERVATIONS DIRECTLY WITH THE PARK BY CALLING (606) 286-4411 and use the code "2448 KY-WV Seasonal Schools Conference 2018" before JUNE  5.
Cost:

Rooms:  About $111/night plus about $11/night for each additional adult beyond two.
Campsites:  About $37/night.

Other options
There are various hotels in Grayson, KY, which is about 20 minutes away.

Food

Some refreshments will be provided.  Meals are available for purchase at the Carter Caves Park’s restaurant—refer to the park’s website for menus and prices.  Note that there are no other restaurants very close by, but there are some in Grayson, for example.  Also, the park states that we cannot bring in our own food into the restaurant and meeting areas.

Some Park Information

The park offers swimming, cave tours, gem mining, birding, canoeing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, miniature golf, playgrounds, and tennis.  See the park’s website for more details.  We are also planning for some zumba.

Directions

Consult your maps with care before embarking, and be aware that cell reception (or real-time GPS contact) may at times be extremely weak or non-existent.  Also, roads near the park are somewhat narrow and windy—perhaps not much fun driving on for the first time in the dark.  Fortunately, the park is not too far off Interstate 64.  It is about 90 minutes east of Lexington, KY, and about 45 minutes west of Huntington, WV.
